Who is Sun River Honey
Aaron and Shannon spent a combined 20 years as elite level athletes representing Canada with the Canadian National Fencing Team at both World Cups and World Championships all over the world. They learned elite nutrition management at the highest levels. During her career, Shannon discovered the fast and stable re-fueling she could achieve from our honey. Since there was no conveniently packaged honey on the market, she started travelling with jars of honey from our honey farm stuffed into her fencing mask. She was able to refuel between matches without getting bogged down with solid food. As an elite athlete subject to doping tests, she was very aware of what she put into her body. With her trusty jar of honey travelling with her, she was able to eliminate the bonk, and do it with real food. The only problem was it had one flavour...honey, it had no electrolytes and it required her to travel with a spoon. Our 6 honey gels were created from Shannon's real world experience as an athlete.
 

We know honey!
Sara and Henry (mom and dad) got their first hives in 1997 and along with some donated equipment from a friend, they started their beekeeping journey. Over the next few years Sara worked for a commercial beekeeper and learned how to keep bees on a large scale. Along with their children Aaron and Shannon, they worked to build their honey farm over the next 25 years. Around 2018 they started working on developing a soft creaming technique that allowed them to produce soft, creamy honey with the ability to infuse many different flavours. In 2019 they transitioned their farm to focus on packaging their new creamy honey and selling it around the world. Sara continues to enjoy providing contract beekeeping services for other honey farms.

  • "Matcha" uses Honey, Organic Matcha Green Tea Powder, and Sea Salt.
